KAI 10th Anniversary NEWS

NOAH NEWS

It was officially announced that Yuji Okabayashi and Mitsuya Nagai have been added to the upcoming “Global League”. The full league now sits at 16 wrestlers in total and will run from October 14 through November 19.

Naomichi Marufuji, Katsuhiko Nakajima, Masa Kitamiya, Go Shiozaki, Maybach Taniguchi, Muhammad Yone, Quiet Storm, Atsushi Kotoge, Kenoh, Akitoshi Saito, Cody Hall, KAZMA SAKAMOTO (FREE), Masato Tanaka (ZERO1), Yuko Miyamoto (666), Yuji Okabayashi (BJW) & Mitsuya Nagai (DRADITION)

Then Eddie Edwards, as the reigning GHC Heavyweight Champion, addressed his first title defense against Marufuji and the his goals going forward as the defending champion. Edwards stated that his goal is to become stronger as the champion and keep his confidence high for what it means to be the GHC champion. He addressed that due to the scheduling with Impact Wrestling that he will not be able to compete in the Global League, but he expects the winner of the league to be a promising and worthy challenge for the belt.

Also the president of Impact Wrestling Ed Nordholm and the VP Scott D’Amore joined NOAH’s president Masayuki Uchida to talk about the future goals of bringing the “global” back to the GHC (Global Honored Crown) name. Early plans are being worked out to feature the GHC belt abroad including maybe even a defense in Impact Wrestling. Also both Canada and Mexico also were mentioned for potential defenses in the idea of the true “global” advance. Edwards himself has stated that he will accept any and all challenges that may come forward and even those from outside of Japan.

NOAH NEWS

It was announced that Takashi Sugiura will be returning to in-ring competition on October 28 at the Korakuen Hall.

Sugiura has been out of action since June as he underwent surgery in July for an atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat). He was given a positive diagnosis in October that his heartbeat is back to normal and there were no abnormalities found that could have come if it weren’t for the fact that he was diagnosed with the condition so soon.

It can be noted that Sugiura is a bit upset that he could not come back in time for the currently on-going Global League, especially with Yuji Okabayashi himself being forced out with an injury. Sugiura stated that his goal is to climb the ranks as fast as possible, but at the same time he will be taking every match one step at a time to make sure he is in perfect condition.

Then as for some side news, Daisuke Sekimoto and Takuya Nomura were announced to be competing on the 11/11, 11/12 & 11/14 shows.

Below is the updated 10/28 event card and other changes will be made to the remainder tour as well. Specifically with Sugiura’s addition and Okabayashi’s omission. Sugiura will be competing in tag matches throughout the remainder of the tour as he will be teaming with several partner’s outside of his recent sole teaming with Kenoh.

~ Atsushi Onita announced that he will be holding a special show on December 3 at the Shinkiba 1stRING. What is being dubbed the “Onita Evaluation Meeting” will feature Onita reflecting upon his retirement match with a special viewing of his final match. Among the show Onita will be featuring a match as he will be taking over as the special referee. Onita stated that his intentions are to be similar to the former referee Shiro Abe, but the twist being that he will be a referee that brings weapons.

NJPW Event Cards for November & December 2017

Then following the conclusion of Power Struggle, a several matches have now been added to the Wrestle Kingdom 12 card at a press conference. Chris Jericho appeared in a video package after Kenny Omega’s successful IWGP U.S. title defense, and issued a challenge to the Cleaner. Omega accepted, and now “Alpha vs Omega,” as the two have referred to the matchup, has been made official for Wrestle Kingdom.

Jay White returned at the end of Power Struggle, revealing himself to be the “Switchblade” whose appearance has been teased over the last few months. White challenged Hiroshi Tanahashi for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship before attacking the champion.

After failing to capture the Intercontinental title from Tanahashi, Ibushi was confronted backstage by Cody. The American Nightmare gave Ibushi the opportunity to challenge for the ROH World Championship at Wrestle Kingdom, and that has been made official as well.

Marty Scurll defeated Will Ospreay to become the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion. Ospreay demanded a rematch, while KUSHIDA & Hiromu Takahashi made challenges of their own. Scurll elected to defend the title against all three of them in a 4WAY match at the Tokyo Dome. Ospreay commented that the odds are not at all in the champion’s favor going into Wrestle Kingdom, but Scurll was confident he will be able to defend his title.

Riki Choshu NEWS

A couple main event matches were announced for Riki Choshu’s upcoming self-produced show on January 14, 2018 called “POWER HALL 2018”.

Choshu came forward and stated that his ambition was to collect and bring together several wrestlers throughout Japan. He aims to deliver a message to the current state of the ring and showcase the true meaning of “professional wrestler”. He announced a double main event will be held on the show as he himself will be teaming with Kota Ibushi and currently unannounced teammate to take on the team of Tatsumi Fujinami, TAKA Michinoku and Daisuke Sekimoto. Then the second match will feature Naomichi Marufuji teaming with Shingo Takagi to take on the team of Masato Tanaka and Masa Kitamiya.
